5 Habits That Create Lasting Beauty

While maintaining your beauty can seem like a lot of visits to the spa or to the salon (and we certainly think so—be sure to check out our services here), your beauty is also influenced by your daily habits. These are tips that are going to seem a bit underwhelming, but they are going to give you the best chance at keeping your natural beauty.

1. Wear Sunblock

Probably the most important tip here. Not only does sunblock keep you safe from skin cancer, but it also helps your skin maintain its youthful, clear, smooth appearance. And this doesn’t just apply to when you are at the beach or have prolonged sun exposure. In order to keep your skin safe, you need to wear sunblock on your face every day.

2. See Your Dentist

Regular dental maintenance is important in keeping your mouth, teeth, and gums healthy and disease-free. And it’s also imperative if you want to show off your chompers. A beautiful smile can go a long way when it comes to showing your age. See your dentist regularly for checkups and make sure you brush and floss regularly in between those visits.

3. Get Your Steps In

Getting 10,000 steps a day isn’t just something that Fitbit came up with for a standard goal. The CDC recommends getting 150 minutes of moderate exercise per week. And 10,000 steps a day is about equal to about 30 minutes of exercise. Staying active will help you to maintain, or lose unwanted weight, and more importantly, keep your body (and its organs!) healthy and happy.

4. Wash Up

Sometimes the last thing you want to do before a long day is wash your face, but it’s a critical part of your day if you want to keep your face clear and blemish-free. Make it a habit to always wash your face before bed, even if you aren’t in makeup. Without a wash, you are putting yourself at risk for clogged pores, the leading cause of acne.

5. Put It Out

While it’s impossible to control all the ways that the environment can affect your physical features, there are some that you can control, like cigarette smoking. We all know it can cause long-term medical issues and life-threatening diseases, but it can also cause wrinkles and sagging skin, uneven skin tone, sagging of the skin all over the body, discolored nails, yellow teeth and oral decay, and age spots, all things that will make you age prematurely.

While many of these habits may take some time to improve your beauty and may only affect it in subtle ways, in the long run, you will thank yourself for picking up (or putting down) these habits.
